The Moshassuck River is a river in the United States that flow in the Rhode Island. It flows through approximately through 16 kilometers from the town of Lincolns to the town of providence. There are six dams build over this river.

This river is not too thick if we compare it with the rivers like the American river. But how important it is can be understood by knowing the fact that there are six dams built over this river. Hence this river participate in the important jobs like electricity production, irrigation etc. as far as the electricity supply is concerned I really feel that the rivers like American river and the Mississippi river become far more important but as far as the irrigation is concerned I really feel that this river turns out to be of great help.

History
The founder of the Rhode Island or Roger Williams settled on the bank of this river. He settled at the eastern coast of the river. He was told the name of the river by the Narragansett Indians who told this name to him. The meaning of the word Moshassuck is quiet simple and that is the river where the moose watered. 

The river played a very important role in the industrial revolution. It really was the main source of running many industries. You must remember that the industrial revolution was marked by the invention of the steam engine by James watt. He was really the one who brought about the industrial revolution and for this they needed the water which was provided in this region by the river Moshassuck.

It also connects the black stone river to the lower section of the black stone canal.

By the mid of the eighteenth century the condition of the river was so bad that cholera out broke in the area surrounding it. All this really happened due to the over pollution of the river due to the industries which really used to throw all the waste and also dump of them into the river.

As far as the tributaries are concerned there is only one tributary known so far and that is the west river. This river might look small in size but the importance of this river in the region is not far behind as compared to the Blackstone River which is another river in the region. I must say that this river is another river which really does a lot of good work during the industrial revolution. You must have heard a lot about the black stone river but I must tell you that the Moshassuck is also not far behind. It is really one of the rivers anyhow which really did lots of good during the industrial revolution.
